Buddy Day at Blackburn Lake Primary

"At Blackburn Lake Primary School we strongly value the Buddy Program, so much so, that we made a video after celebrating National Buddy Day in June this year."

"The kids really look forward to celebrating National Buddy Day. Every student at Blackburn Lake Primary has a Buddy which they catch up with every fortnight for an activity. All 455 students, wore a purple ribbon to demonstrate ‘banding together’ to take a stand against bullying. At lunch the Buddies spent quality time together whilst sharing a sausage or two. At assembly the buddies sat together and demonstrated the Buddies handshake, which they all love doing. A great day had by all."

National Buddy Day

National Buddy Day is an initiative developed by NAB and The Alannah & Madeline Foundation to celebrate friendship and help raise awareness of bullying in Australian primary schools. The 2013 theme of `Banding Together' meant joining forces (or arms or legs) with a buddy, friend or colleague to take a stand against bullying. There are lots of different ways to celebrate and participate, including activities which will show kids how they can help each other learn positive, caring behaviours. Why not join us next year for Buddy Day? More to come information in 2014.
